What is Truth?

Truth is not a feeling. Truth is not an idea. The truth is found in the Bible. The cults are wrong because they do not have the truth. That is, they have a false understanding of God the Father, of God the Son, of the Holy Spirit, and the work of Christ on the Cross. Because they are in error in these things, they are in error concerning the doctrine of salvation.

Sincerity and good works do not bridge the gap of sin between God and man. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse a person (Heb. 9:22; John 14:6). Sincerity and good works are merely the reliance upon what is in the individual to merit favor with God. Sincerity is a form of pride when it is appealed to as a justification for being accepted by God: "But God, look at my heart. See how sincere I was? I deserve to be in heaven." No. If sincerity and good works were good enough to satisfy God, then He wouldn't have given us the Bible to correct our sincerely wrong ideas, and He wouldn't have sent His Son to do what our good works cannot.

TRUTH IS WHAT GOD SAYS IS TRUE.

Conclusion

The truth is important not because it is simply true. It is important because truth is what defines who and what we believe in. Is Jesus the brother of the devil? Is he an angel who became a man like the JW’s teach about? Or, is He the creator of the universe, second person of the Trinity?... Only one is right.
Faith is vital. But faith placed in something false is the same as having no faith at all. Faith is only as good as the object in which it is placed. That is why it is important to have the true Jesus. The one of the Bible.

Can We Know the Truth?

Jesus claimed that we can. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). The truth makes men free from the bondage of sin by purifying them through belief in and obedience to the truth (1 Peter 1:22; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; James 1:18). Not only CAN we know the truth, but God desires and expects us to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). “I was born into this world to tell about the truth. And everyone who belongs to the truth knows my voice" (John 18:37,38).

If you accept the presupposition that God alone existed prior to creation, that He created everything out of nothing, then it follows that whatever God says is true, is true. There’s really no point in arguing anything, is there? So, for example, if God were to say today that 2 plus 2 now equals 5, then it would be true no matter what our limited reasoning would lead us to believe. (If you have a problem with this hypothetical, try working out the math for the feeding of the five thousand.) So what exactly is truth?

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate.

Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

"What is truth?" Pilate asked. (John 18: 37-38a)

“The story does not report any further dialogue between Pilate and Jesus, just that Pilate announced that he found no guilt in Jesus, at which point the Jews ask for Barabbas to be released and Jesus to be crucified.

Pilate was looking for a definition to absolute truth, a truth he could understand and turn to for comfort and peace…. truth as he knew it to be is the unquenchable power of the Roman Empire. His definition of truth is elastic, the authority of truth was given to the man with the most power, the man who could elicit the most fear, and the man who could control his destiny, namely Caesar.

This is not the Truth of Jesus. His is a more radical definition than the authoritative and power-filled propositions of yesterday and today. His Truth embodies another way that is not of this world. A definition that is much more subversive, counter cultural and permanent. A kingdom of servants who listen to and follow The Way of their King, not because they have to, but because they want to. His Truth is a God who was made man, who loved the marginalized and scattered the rich and the self-righteous. A Truth that made a way for the poor, the prostitute, the widow, the gentile, the jew, the marginalized and the rich.

Truth then died on a cross, Truth was raised from death, Truth bore witness for 40 days, and Truth then ascended into the heavens. Truth left behind a witness, a perpetrator of Truth that resides in the hearts of His followers. Truth lived, lives, and leads. Truth is Jesus. Absolutely.”
