Every year we get on our warm clothes, make a thermos of Hot Cocoa, and hop in the car to go look at christmas lights--and this last weekend we did just that. There are a few houses in Grantsville that look like Santa land. The houses are amazing. The kids enjoy it as well as Richard and I.
One particular house has a sign in the front yard that said to turn your radio station to 102.3 or something close to and their lights in their yard go with the beat of the music. It was incredible. I've never seen anything like it before.
After we saw all the lights we wanted to we took the kids and their letters to Santa Claus over to Grandma and Grandpa Fishers. What happens is we light a fire in their fireplace and put their letters to Santa in the fire. As their letters burn and the ashes fly up the chimney Santa Claus flies over the house with his reindeer and grabs the ashes and takes them back to the North Pole. Then he puts the letters back together and if the kids were good this year they might just get what they asked for.
While we were all huddled around the fireplace we literally heard Santa's sleigh bells outside. (well except for me, I had to slide out the back door and get something out of the car) ;) But Savannah swears she saw his sleigh drive away when we ran outside to try to take a peak.
The magic of christmas was in our hearts that night, but we always remember the true meaning of christmas each season as we remember that God himself came to earth humbly as a baby born in a manger to save us from our sins of this world.
Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas.

Wahoo! A post! I love the idea of the letters up the chimney. It reminded me of "Mary Poppins!" (say it out loud with an English accent.)That's too bad you had to go to the car:)
We love to look at Christmas lights, too. They remind us in the dark of winter Who truly is the Light of the World.
Have a great day!
